Why Hire an Arborist?

It is becoming more and more clear each day that trees are among the most valuable assets on our planet.  A dying or dead tree can cause considerable damage or even present a threat to life in the event of a storm.  Don't let this situation threaten your property and safety.
Removing large and dangerous trees is a specialty of Marston's Tree Service and Lawn Care.  In fact, we offer complete service to families and companies throughout Maine, including feeding, fertilizing, pruning, bracing, trimming and stump grinding.  We are qualified tree experts that can do your job in the shortest time possible.
We are licensed, insured and offer free estimates for all tree work.  Complete equipment for every job is carried on promptly dispatched trucks.   Your service is handled quickly and professionally.

Why hire a licensed arborist?

Pruning trees can be dangerous.  A licensed arborist will determine the best type of pruning to improve the appearance, health and safety of your tree and provide the services of trained professionals with all of the safety equipment and liablility insurance required to do the job right.

What are some of the things to look for when hiring someone to work on my trees?

There are a variety of things to consider.
  1. Always use a certified and licensed arborist.  The State of Maine requires, by law enacted 12/9/98, that any person performing tree care work must be a licensed Maine Arborist.  Licensed Arborist must carry insurance to cover personal injury and property damage.
  2. A list of references is a good place to start.  Don't hesitate to check these references.
  3. Proof of insurance is a must.
  4. Climbing spikes - use of these can damage trees and should only be used on trees that are being removed.
  5. Tree topping should never be used as it is harmful to trees and is not an accepted practice with knowledgeable arborists.   If they offer it - don't use them.
